"Junk Wagon" 10 Year Anniversary

Junk Wagon: The Big Band Album celebrates its 10 year anniversary! Can you believe it?

It was truly a LAUNCH--a release of building positive energy, a clear turning point toward a new adventure. That year, Junk Wagon was released, my daughter was born, and I started a full-time teaching position at CSUN.

I am forever grateful to my friends who so masterfully played on this album—but more importantly, gave their heart, soul, and total spirit in belief of the music. It has always felt like we were “in it” together. That support was such a gift. Such a gift! It was truly a community coming together in the name of music.

I am grateful to the L.A. venues that provided the spaces for the band to develop, specifically The Baked Potato where we played the last Sunday of every month—and of course The Blue Whale, Seven Grand (Small Band), Vitello’s and Catalina’s.

I am grateful to BFM Jazz (Michele Ito, Steven Weber, and Steve Corn) for taking a chance this “unknown” band!! They have always been all about the music!

I am grateful to Tim Weston for stepping in and producing the sessions and Chris Brooke for recording and editing with such masterful musicality.

I am grateful to The Bridge for allowing us to be the first band to be recorded in such a beautiful studio. I am grateful to Jonathan Losk for his support, friendship, and mentorship. I’m grateful to T.J. Tesh for his photography (including the jumping cover!)

Junk Wagon went on to win several Global Music Awards including Best In Show, Awards of Excellence for Creativity/Originality and Album Production.

"Junk Wagon is bursting at the seams with originality, making it a joy to hear from the first notes to the last”.
