As recorded on Cuarentena, With Family at Home, “Fabrica de Conservas de San Francisco (La Historia de Molly y Johnny) is in dedication to my paternal grandparents, Molly and Johnny. Their parents immigrated to America from Italy/Sicily via Ellis Island and eventually became American citizens. My grandfather wrote a (handmade) book of his memoirs which I have read to my daughter. In the book, he describes how he met my grandmother while they were working in the San Francisco canneries—about 1932. This arrangement is duo—just piano and trumpet.
