Fast and Direct
Fast and Direct is the first movement of a suite, “A Tribute to Dee Barton”. It is designed to move along at a fast, exciting pace, while providing ample solo space for the solo trumpet and tenor saxophone. Ensemble sections feature a unison trombone melody and a lively saxophone soli followed by a boisterous shout chorus. It works well as an opener. Formal structure is AABA with an interlude. Fast and Direct is recorded on Live at Catalina’s, Vol. 2.
