Oma (a la Madre Divina)

$60.00

As recorded on Cuarentena, With Family at Home, “Oma (a la Madre Divina)” is an ode to the divine feminine, Mother, Shakti, the Earth, the Universe. The meaning of this piece has deepened since I first wrote it, back in 1996. Some pieces are fully realized and complete from the beginning, but this composition has evolved through numerous performances and various versions. (There is a large jazz ensemble arrangement of “Oma” from our first big band album recorded in 2000, Live at Catalina’s). As Cuarentena: With Family at Home is about the unifying connection of music and family, I felt that “Oma" must be included. Each time we play “Oma”, we honor with deep love, the Divine Mother. Musically, it is inspired by Henry Mancini’s “Moon River”.
