Seven Grand

As recorded on Arful Joy, “Seven Grand” is named for a whiskey bar near downtown Los Angeles where the John Daversa Small Band would played monthly for several years. It was not a listening room and the schlepping of equipment up flights of stairs was less than ideal, but the music was the mission and we knew we had to play! The “A” section is build off of a 5 bar phrase, gospel inspired pedal point. Formal structure: AABB.
