As recorded on Arful Joy, “Players Only” utilizes a simple, melodic, pentatonic bass line and melody. I titled it “Players Only” because of its deceptive intricacy. It is so simple that one must be (an experienced) “player” in order to bring it to life. The Artful Joy recording eventually goes to a double-time groove for a piano solo.
